happen? As you look around at other boat docks you will notice many things in common. Thats it, they tend to be a cookie
cutter design that is stampled out home after home and pay no attention to the architecture styling of the residence or
the owners needs. Boat docks should be as unique as the owners who will use them yet the lack of construction skills and
the rush to have a boat dock in place tend to lead homeowners down the wrong path.Central Florida Boat Dock Design
There are two approaches that clients can take to boat dock design, one being a standard cookie cutter dock and the other being a custom boat dock design. Althought municipal regulations will require your Orlando boat dock contractor to build your dock to certain specifications, a boat dock is not custom unless it is designed to meet the home owners lifestyle and the architecture of their residence.A standard boat dock will take a pre-designed boat dock and customize it to the specifications of your municipality. This type of boat dock is what is most seen throughout Central Florida and is quickly bid by contractors allowing for a "free estimate". A custom boat dock will be designed by our landscape architect and will involve a meeting with you to discuss your dream boat dock. From the information obatained at this meeting, your survey and photographs of your residence our landscape architect will develop a conceptual boat dock design. This design will be presented to you for your input and approval. Revisions may take place and upon approval of your concept construction drawings will be prepared, signed and sealed and submitted for permit. Central Florida Boat Dock Construction
As your Central Florida boat dock and sea wall contractor we will submit your construction drawings for permit. While your drawings are being reviewed by the permitting
agency we will order the materials required for your boat dock construction. While waiting for materials to arrive preliminary site work will begin including
providing any utility needs for your new boat dock, preparing any templates or jigs that will be needed for your boat dock construction, launching a barge or
flat boat that will be needed for your new boat dock among others. Upon permit approval we will begin driving piles for your boat dock. Piles will be the supporting structure that your new boat dock will be constructed upon. Following the installation of pilings we will construct your boat dock deck followed by any overhead cover or roof, any boat dock amenities such as jet ski moorings, walk in steps, davits, hoists, etcetera. The finising touches such as utilities, ornamentation and any protective coatings or sealers will be applied. A certificate of occupancy will be obtained from your municipality and you will be able to use your boat dock or sea wall constructed by FL Custom Home Builders, your Orlando, Central Florida boat dock contractor. |
City and County Boat Dock Permitting
The municipality that you reside in requires that you permit your new boat dock or boat dock repair that is being
performed by your Central Florida boat dock contractor. Your local code of ordinance will regulate the square footage,
location and height of your boat dock, design style is open to your desires unless you are located in an historic district.
Your boat dock contractor will also help you determine who owns your lake. Depending upon if your lake is Soverign Submerged
Land regulations that may be placed upon your boat dock construction by the State of Florida requiring communications with
the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
